The Research Rescue and Rehabilitation Center for Sea Turtles DEKAMER (http://caretta.pau.edu.tr) is loacted in Iztuzu Beach where Caretta Carettas lay their eggs. The center is run by academic staff and volunteers and the expenses are covered by donations. 2 volunteers needed per month.

Work: Volunteers needed for different tasks like patrolling on the beach during the egg laying season (April-May), rescuing wounded sea turtles and taking care of and feeding them during the curing period, distrubuting brochures to create an awareness about the dangers that the turtles face, giving information to the visitiors, sharing the daily tasks, etc. Before deciding to choose this camp please read the working rules at http://caretta.pau.edu.tr/index_eng.html very carefully.

Accommondation:Bunk beds in containers. Bed sheets are supplied. Sleeping bag is necessary in summers during the beach patrol. Toilets and showers are shared.

Food: Supplied at the camp site. Volunteers cook for the team in turns.

Requierment: Previous experience with animal care especially with sea turtles is preferred. Volunteers have to dedicate their time and energy for the hard work. Patrolling means walking 10 km. on the beach after midnight till early morning. You must be fit, healthy, strong and ready to give up your sleep at night and sleep during the day time. Day tasks are under heavy sun. Private life will be limited. You will be requested to take responsibilities at all sections of the center and undertake different tasks daily. A week contains 6 working days and one day off. A motivation letter should be sent together with the application form. Minimum stay is 1 month and can be extended up to 3 months if both sides agree at the end of the first month.

Language: English.

Location: Dalyan is in the South west of Turkey. The center is placed near the sea under pine tress. The beach is full of crowds especially in the long summer season between April – October. Volunteers should reach to the camp site by their own by following the directions given on the info sheet. Nearest Airport is Dalaman Airport.

Extra Fee: 50 Euro per month in order to cover the services provided like accommodation, food, laundry, internet, etc. and the facilities.

Projekti tasu: 100€Vabatahtlik peab ise maksma reisikulud sihtkohta ja tagasi. Elamiskulud ning toidlustuse tasu on 50€ kuus.
